​TODAY: 
You will be working on a Document Based Question (DBQ) about what led the Southern states to secede from the Union in 1860 and 1861. If you are unfamiliar with DBQ's, they are split up into Part A and Part B...

Part A: Read/examine each document and answer the questions. This is to be done on your own but if you need some clarifying, please quietly ask a neighbor near you. 
Part B: Once you have completed all the questions for Part A, you will be starting on an essay on a separate sheet of paper answering the question the packet asks: "What led the Southern states to secede from the Union in 1860 and 1861?". I am not concerned with the number of paragraphs of your essay but you must include: 
1) A thesis statement/ introduction that answers the focus question
2) Evidence from at least 4 of the documents from Part A to support your answer/thesis

This is NOT homework. Please just get as far as you can during the class period.
